I often tell people who ask for an informational interview that simply reaching out and asking for help is more than most people do. It's amazing how lazy most job searches are. If someone does everything on your list, it won't be hard to stand out. Good advice!
Exactly! Feels like there is a lot of this at the moment (can't find a partner, people have fewer friends, etc). A good life requires work! Work is good, and can feel like a blessing when you can use it to make your life better.
Great outline, Peter! I followed a similar process myself to get into climate, and, in my opinion, some version of it is optimal for getting a role in any industry: be clear about your intentions, network broadly, and consistently seek to help and add value to anyone you speak with. As it turns out, that same process applies to growing in your role or even growing a company!
Good, practical advice. I’m often asked for same kind of advice - I’ll send people to your newsletter from now on. Thanks.
Thanks Mark!
