Introducing - Carbon Fiber
Hi friends,
I'm starting a newsletter (hey, guy, watch it, I'm starting a newsletter over here) about trying to get involved in the climate fight. As a way of increasing accountability - admittedly never a personal strong suit, but hey, it's never too late to be the person you want to be - I'll be sharing what I learn here, with you.
If you find it useful, I hope you'll read and share. If you don't, just unsubscribe, and we'll both be better off. You can't be everything to everyone, you know?
A few thoughts as we embark:
This will be a personal blog. i.e. subjective. Things that are new to me will be described as new, boring as boring, etc. I'll share my specific understanding of things, at the moment. There will be ambiguity. There will be a significant lack of journalistic presentation/objectivity.
It's going to be positive. Climate change/crisis/etc is an Everest-sized challenge. I do not want to, and will try not to, despair. It's quite clearly going to be hard, so all effort needs to go towards the climb.
Honestly, I don't know much yet. It's likely you'll know more than me, and nothing would make me happier than learning from my friends, so please share what you know - books, reading lists, podcasts, anything at all.
I'm going to try to do a combination of practical questions that interest me and summary/overviews as I understand concepts better. Pretty much everything is on the table from "Should I change the lightbulbs in my house to LEDs now, or when they run out?" to "What's CCU? And will be needing geo-engineering?"
Now that you've entered unknowingly into a fan/artist relationship with me, you are, practically speaking, my fans, whom I care about. Will I do fan service? Of course. Send me your questions! I will try to answer them.
Lastly, I'm leaving my job come Jan 10th, so I'm going to commit to write something every two weeks. More if I can. That means if you have ideas for how I can 1) get rich quick, or alternatively 2) connect with awesome people who could employ me to do strategy, product, biz dev, or guide me towards other fun things in climate, I would be deeply grateful for the connection.
Let's roll,
Peter
